The original meaning of the term refers to a “professional guest” in ancient Greece, from Greek ????????? parasitos = “one who eats from another’s table”, literally “one who is beside the bread”

A Parasite lives in a close relationship with another organism, its host, and causes it harm.  Once a parasite has exhausted its host, or the host repels the parasite, it will move on.  Parasites rarely kill their hosts.

Well that’s a relief! Before you think it, No I don’t have a parasite… In fact quite the opposite!  In a crude way some people can be likened to a parasite, even just by taking the keywords out of the above definition.  They take what they need and its completely one way.

It happens on all levels.  A dictator will use every resource his people produce for his own needs.  A TV Station will run a show into the ground to scrape every dollar out of it (BB, which should have been dead long ago).   Or a person will use another not even caring about the effects.

In every situation, the victim is almost helpless, defenceless, unless they can rise above it.

Be brave… Don’t let someone get the best of you…

Work Work!Work work! Sometimes life as a peon can be demanding, but sitting in front of a global warming soul enslaving machine has its benefits! It keeps you occupied, and in my line of work it keeps you learning but my biggest catch cry is, At least when I hit retirement (touch wood) I shouldn’t have to play Sudoku 3 times a day to avoid developing dementia.

It’s all been good and well, weekends are scarce but Life is usually filled up with either work or the excessive amount of sports I’m involved in! Got to counter act my physical inactivity during the day with an active nightlife! Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday’s = Indoor Netball, Thursdays is Basketball and Friday’s indoor soccer. Friday night is usually the night I go out and have a few drinks as Sunday’s are also sports orientated!

Love life’s going well and moving in a good direction so shall see how that pans out!

A new hobby is going to be learning the Violin; maybe a bit of classical clarity will replenish my chi! <— is that possible??? :]

On a side note I’m going to dream blog. I’ve had some bizarre dreams of late and I’m going to blog them just for the sake of it!

So the last two weekends have been quite eventful! the first, the long weekend, was the Kal/Esperance trip with Nova and what a trip that was! you can see most of the pics up on the Nova Website.  Kalgoorlie was good fun, and so was esperance, lots of beer lots of food and many memories.
This weekend we moved into our new place in O’Conner, its pretty comfy, and the room im in is pretty large (which is good) it makes my room look cleaner even though theres more mess in it.. yay for spreading it out.
Im pretty stuffed from indoor netball, think i might go lay down!

Silverchair @ Claremont Oval

Well this weekend was far from relaxing.

No doubt the most significant moment was at about 6:50 on Saturday night. The lights dimmed, a silence flowed through for only a few seconds before a packed crowd errupted as Silverchair took the stage at Claremont Oval.

For the 75 minutes the boys rocked out as Daniel Johns did everything short of proclaiming himself a rock god. They Played a great set with tracks dating back to Frogstomp. To my suprise the hits they played from they’re latest album ‘Young Modern’ sounded excellent live with a lot more of a rock feel.

Powderfinger took the stage after and inspired the audience with their rythmic tunes. Definately a lot more mellow that Silverchair but still a great performance none the less!

I’m heading off to Melbourne this afternoon for work.

I’ll be gone for two weeks, and then will probably head there for another after I’m back in Perth for a few days. It’s going to be a good trip! we’re staying in Richmond and working on Collins Street. The project is a proof of concept for the technology I’m working with and it should be a breeze. There’s three of us going.

While I’m over there I’m going to go see the dockers play at the MCG against Melbourne on Sunday. I also wouldn’t mind going to see some of the comedy acts around town as the Melbourne Comedy Festival is also on at the moment. However, all this will be slotted in between the project work, I’ll be doing lots of work outside business hours aswell for the project so we’ll see how it all goes :]

Apart from that all is going well, Easter was huge, as per usual.

Was browsing the internet earlier today when i came across this and thought it was pretty interesting, the ratios of today’s population.

If the total world population was 100 and today’s human ratio’s still applied the world would be as follows

  • There would be 57 Asians, 21 Europeans, 14 from the Western Hemisphere (North and South) and 8 Africans.
  • 70 of the 100 would be nonwhite; 30 white.
  • 70 of the 100 would be non-Christian; 30 Christian.
  • 50% of the entire world’s wealth would be in the hands of only 6 people. All 6 would be citizens of the United States.
  • 70 of the 100 would be unable to read.
  • 50 would suffer from malnutrition.
  • 80 would live in substandard housing.
  • Only 1 would have a college education.

A store that sells new husbands has just opened in New York City, where a woman may go to choose a husband. At the entrance is a description of how the store operates:

“You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increase as the shopper ascends the flights. the Shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to Go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!”

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads:
Floor 1 - These men have Jobs.

The second floor sign reads: “Floor 2 - These men have Jobs and Love Kids.”

The third floor sign reads: “Floor 3 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids and are Drop-dead Gorgeous.”

“Wow,” she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 4 - These men have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous and help with the housework.”

“Oh, mercy me!” she exclaims, “I can hardly stand it!” Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:

“Floor 5 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help with housework and Have a Strong Romantic Streak.”

She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign reads:

“Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.

To avoid gender bias charges, the store’s owner opens a New Wives store just across the street……….

The first floor has wives that love sex.

The second floor has wives that love sex and have money.

The third through to the sixth floors have never been visited.
